Tooth extraction may be necessary if a tooth is severely decayed, damaged, infected, or impacted. Dr. Syed Iqbal carefully evaluates each case and discusses alternatives or replacement options to protect your long-term oral health. While the procedure is done under local anesthesia to ensure comfort, you may feel slight pressure during removal.
After extraction, proper care is essential for healing. Bite on gauze to control bleeding, avoid disturbing the blood clot (no rinsing, straws, or smoking for 72 hours), and manage swelling with ice packs. Stick to soft foods, stay hydrated, and take medications as directed. Most discomfort subsides within a few days—contact the office if you experience severe pain, prolonged swelling, or heavy bleeding.

Dr. Syed Iqbal is a dedicated dental professional with over a decade of experience, holding a DDS from the University of Colorado and a BDS from Mangalore University. He has worked in India and the U.S., managing a practice and treating 15–20 patients daily.
Specializing in restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, he focuses on patient-centered care and uses modern techniques to enhance outcomes. Dr. Iqbal is an active member of the American Dental Association and has passed the WREB competency exam.
Dr. Iqbal at Kemp Dentistry is incredibly gentle with his treatments, making the whole dental treatment so smooth and painless.
